Philosophy

The Wholefoods Philosophy governs all we do at Wholefoods. It is a kind of summary of the Constitution.

In short, Wholefoods aims to:

  • provide only vegetarian and vegan food using organic and ethically produced ingredients wherever possible
  • encourage voluntary student participation at all levels of cooperation of the restuarant/space, in an atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation
  • demonstrate that a collective (operating by consensus decision-making processes) is a viable alternative to a hierarchical organisation
  • create an atmosphere which promotes social awareness and the possibilities for social change through encouraging use of Wholefoods as a venue for student cultural, social and political activities
  • maintain a non-profit philosophy whereby the restaurant aims to break even

nuttelex (cakes & toasties), frogs, samosas fair-trade coconut oil concoctions, ethically sound oils
  • We've transitioned garlic bread to a mustard-oil emulsion.
  • Substituting more ethical oils where possible - toasties & most cakes.
  • Development of "Nottelex" with organic coconut oil for use by cake cooks where those properties are required.
